In case your comments are not showing up ...

In a sudden downturn from its recent performance problems, Blogger is now not just failing to post and register comments, it's destroying comments that have already appeared. So if you've posted a comment and it does not show up, that's why. I hope Blogger will fix the problem. Meanwhile keep reading, keep posting, and hope for the best.

Thanks,

the management

Just remember that the offer still stands. You say the word and I'll have a Spinetingler login ready for you within half a day or less.

Crikey, I feel like a player whose performance in the World Cup has earned him a fat contract offer from Real Madrid or Manchester United.

And speaking of the world cup...

If you'd all listened to me you'd be rich.

The Dutch were 25:1 (and higher) against making the final at the start of the tournament.

Gefeliciteerd met je succes. How much do you stand to win?

P.S. I wore my orange shirt to work again today. Oranje boven!

Its a little complicated. I have quite a few different bets going, but the Dutch victory means that at the very least I will break even. Actually I'll do a little better than even. If they win I'll be an extremely happy man.

If Holland wins the World Cup AND Ireland wins the 2011 Rugby World Cup the drinks are definitely on me.

So are showing up at Bouchercon, then? I'll be damned if I'm buying dinner for any millionaires.

In fact, my frequent listening to and reading of the Guardian's World Cup coverage has reminded me of England's much freer attitude to betting than we have in America. No way would any American commenators discuss their own bets openly, as the Guardian gang do. Something about sports betting being illegal almost everywhere in the U.S., I suppose.

No Bouchercon for me this year. I've asked Holt and Pan Mac and neither will fly me. Maybe next year though
